Controls and saving
| Item | How to use it | Current behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Navigation | Press A to move, press B to select, and hold B for about 0.7 seconds to return or cancel. Hold A to repeat through longer menus. | On the VPet screen, A opens the large icon picker. Confirmation screens start on Cancel. |
| Clock | Press B from VPet Home to open the clock. On the clock, press B to return Home or hold B to edit the time. | The normal clock returns Home after 30 seconds without input. Clock editing does not time out; while editing, A changes the value, B advances/saves, and hold B exits. Clock10x in Settings accelerates growth and timers for testing. |
| Save/load | The device autosaves to FATFS. The Progress screen offers Load or Reset. | Use the normal power flow and allow the device to save before power is removed. |
Status
The Status icon shows the active pet’s age, weight, hunger, strength, effort, energy/DP, and battle record. Internally, the firmware also tracks care mistakes, protein overdose, type, and power.
| Stat | What changes it | Firmware behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Age & weight | Food raises weight; training and battle can lower it. | Meat adds 1, protein adds 2, successful training removes 1, and battle removes 2 when possible. |
| Hunger | Falls at the species hunger-loss interval. Meat refills it. | Displayed as hearts. Empty hunger starts a care call. |
| Strength | Falls at the strength-loss interval. Protein or successful training restores it. | Displayed as 0–4 hearts. Empty strength starts a care call. |
| Effort | Training raises effort used by evolution routes. | PartialCurrent training behavior is still being refined toward the exact DMC rule. |
| Energy / DP | Every fourth protein restores 1 DP. Eight continuous sleeping hours refill DP. | ImplementedStage I–II cannot battle; Stage III+ spends 1 DP per battle. |
| Win ratio | Battles and wins affect later evolution routes. | Single and tag battle percentages are shown separately. |
Food and training
Meat
ImplementedReduces hunger by one unit and adds 1 weight. Ten extra meat while already full count as one overfeed and provide one hunger-loss buffer.
Protein
ImplementedAdds one strength heart and 2 weight. Every fourth protein adds 1 DP and 1 protein overdose, capped at 7.
Training
Select Training and lock an attack lane while the projectile moves. A successful session restores strength and lowers weight.
DMC accuracy
PartialThe mini-game is playable but is custom and does not exactly reproduce every DMC Ver.1–5 training game.
Battle and connection
| Mode | How it works | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Colosseum | Choose a pet and fight through custom level progression with charge, hit/dodge, and result animations. | CustomNot an exact copy of DMC Quest Mode. |

| DMC hit rate | The reference game uses power and attribute advantage. | Not YetExact official hit-rate calculation remains to be completed. |
Care, sleep, cleaning, and injury
| Need | Care method | Current behavior | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Waste | Select the clean icon before 8 piles accumulate. | At 8 piles the pet becomes injured; cleaning clears visible waste for active pets. | Implemented |
| Sleep light | Open Light → Light and turn the software room light off. | The VPet play area blacks out while menus, battery, and call indicators remain usable. | Implemented |
| Sleep disturbance | Avoid feeding, training, or battling while asleep. | The pet wakes for 10 in-game minutes, then sleeps again if still inside its sleep window. | Implemented |
| Freeze | Use Light → Freeze for Pet 1 or Pet 2. | Gameplay timers stop for the frozen pet. | Implemented |
| Medicine | Use the medicine icon when injured. | Medicine clears injury and shows recovery. | PartialSpecies-specific dose counts are not enforced. |
| Care call | Respond to empty hunger or strength within 10 minutes; turn lights off within one hour after the sleep call. | A missed call records one care mistake. | Implemented |
Evolution and death
Evolution considers time since the previous evolution, stage, care mistakes, training, overfeed, sleep disturbance, battles, and win percentage. Timers continue during normal sleep, but pause while frozen.
| Stage change | Reference timing | Current behavior |
|---|---|---|
| I → II | 10 minutes | DMC-style timing data is implemented. |
| II → III | 12 hours | DMC-style timing data is implemented. |
| III → IV | 24 hours | Route selection uses care and counters. |
| IV → V | 36 hours | The current built-in route requires 15+ battles and an 80%+ win rate. |
| V → VI | 48 hours | The current route also requires 0–1 care mistakes. |
Death can result from 15 injuries in one form, six continuous hours injured, 12 continuous hours with empty hunger or strength, or failed evolution care conditions. A dead pet appears as a grave. Press B at the Clear Grave hint, press A to move from Cancel to Clear, and press B to confirm. The Freeze menu uses the same confirmation. After clearing, press B at the New Egg hint; the pending replacement slot survives a restart.
D‑Vault
D‑Vault stores a pet snapshot online so a paired WiFiCom device can move Pet 1 or Pet 2 between the device and cloud. The website always shows the pet’s active location.
- Open D‑Vault, create an account if registration is available, verify the email, and sign in. Existing accounts can still sign in when new registration is closed.
- Pair the WiFiCom device to the account using the device’s D‑Vault flow.
- Choose Pet 1 or Pet 2 and upload it. Wait for device and server confirmation before leaving the transfer screen.
- To restore it, choose the same paired device slot and download. Interrupted transfers use receipts and recovery state so the device and cloud do not silently create two active copies.
Important: Do not reset, unpair, update firmware, or remove power during an active transfer. If a recovery message appears, resume that operation before starting another transfer.
Online sprite packs and wallpapers
Download
Open Light → Content, then choose Online Sprite Packs, Online Wallpapers, or Attack Skins. Attack skins unlock after every ten accepted Meat feeds and use a temporary six-item preview grid.
Manage
Use Manage Sprite Packs or Manage Wallpapers to view and remove installed content. The device asks before overwriting existing content.
Downloads are staged and checked before they replace installed files. Keep the device powered and connected to Wi‑Fi until completion. You can preview available files on the Sprite Packs, Wallpapers, and Attack Sprites pages.
Firmware updates
- Charge the battery to at least 20% and connect to Wi‑Fi.
- Finish any battle, adapter task, wireless operation, or D‑Vault transfer.
- Open Settings → Firmware Update and confirm.
- The device saves the game, verifies the board, signed release, file size, and SHA‑256 hash, then restarts into the new firmware.
If an OTA update cannot start, use the browser installer on the Firmware page as the recovery method.

Known differences from DMC
- Colosseum is custom; exact Quest areas, bosses, and progression are not complete.
- DMC, VB, and built-in pets use the same stage/DP battle eligibility and eight-hour sleep DP recovery on WiFiCom and in D‑Vault.
- Version-specific training games, exact backup semantics, species-specific medicine doses, traited eggs, official background unlock rules, and the full Ver.1–5 roster remain incomplete.
